Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his first goal of the preseason. It is literally exactly how you’d imagine it.

Powerplay goal? Check.
At or near the left circle? Check.
The goalie knew it was coming and still couldn’t stop it? Check.

One thing I’ve noticed about the Caps power play is that while it’s still utilizing the 1-3-1, one designated wing plays a lot higher and is a lot more conservative in the zone than last year. That may actually cut down on the ridiculous amount of short-handed goals the Caps give up, which I’m a huge fan of.

8:50PM Update: Ovechkin scored another power play goal in the second period and he made it look easy.
