Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green scored his long-delayed 100th NHL goal against the Sabres on Tuesday night, and it was nifty.
With the game tied at the halfway point, Green gained possession in the offensive zone. With a growing crowd in Buffalo’s crease, Green carried the puck behind the net before wrapping around for the go-ahead goal.
Green’s quest for 100 has been rebuffed since his two-goal night on January 4th. He’s had a number of goals waved off or credited to a deflection since then– including Alex Ovechkin’s trouser-scoar tonight.
Congrats to Mike, and here’s to the next century.
