When the Washington Capitals traded Mathieu Perreault to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, we felt like a chapter in the Book of the Caps had come to a close: ridiculous, post-game celebrations.
We were wrong.
During Thursday’s home opener, RMNB reader Michael Houghton performed his tribute to Perreault, printing out a jumbo version of the canuck’s head to hold up during warm-ups.
Later, after the Caps won in the shootout, Joel Ward and Jason Chimera shared a special moment. First, Ward gave Chimera a push in the back. Chimera then returned the favor forcefully. Celebration!
I call it: “The Love Shove.”
Mathieu Perreault: he lives on in our hearts and in our celebrations. Also in Anaheim, where he actually lives now.
