The Digi Caps have run the digital gauntlet.
Saturday, the Capitals defeated the virtual Panthers 5-0 to go undefeated on NHL20, winning seven straight games. There were big hits, lots of goal horns, and another goalie change.
Evgeny Kuznetsov started the scoring a little over a minute in and the Caps never looked back.
The virtual Washington Capitals are unstoppable, you guys, and they may put Papa Johns out of business with all these 50 off sales. The Caps have won six-straight games after defeating the Minnesota Wild 4-3.
Digi Kuzy played the hero, scoring in three-on-three overtime after taking a beautiful centering pass by Digi Ovi. Kuznetsov also scored in the second period to give himself his first multi-goal game in Pixel World.
Ovechkin also added a goal and now has tallies in three-straight games.
After struggling to score in the Capitals’ first three games, Digi Ovi has found the net in two straight. And not a moment too soon.
The Russian machine scored twice against the Leafs, including the game-winning goal to eke out a squeaker 3-2.
Digi Ilya Samsonov got the win. The virtual Caps have now won five straight.
The Washington Capitals humbled and molly-whopped the virtual Buffalo Sabres on Monday. The fake Caps are undefeated (4-0) since going digital.
The Capitals had seven different goal-scorers, including the snake-bit Digi Ovechkin. The game was so lobsided Nick Jensen scored and Braden Holtby tallied an assist.
No let down game here!
The Washington Capitals annihilated the digital Detroit Red Wings 6-1 at virtual Little Caesar’s Arena, Saturday. The Capitals have won every game they’ve played (3-0) since moving to video-game mode. The simulation game aired on NBC Sports Washington instead of the Capitals’ postponed real-life game against the Red Wings due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Carl Hagelin scored twice early in the first period. Nicklas Backstrom, TJ Oshie, and Ilya Kovalchuk added quick goals in the second period to turn it into a rout.
The game also featured some big hits, teleportation, and cameos by humans, Garnet Hathaway and Nic Dowd.

The Washington Capitals won their second straight simulation game at Digital Capital One Arena, shellacking the New York Rangers 6-1. The NHL20 telecast replaced the real-life Capitals-Rangers game which was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Digi Nicklas Backstrom started the scoring (again), scoring his fourth goal in two games, while Digi Garnet Hathaway, Digi Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Digi TJ Oshie (2) added tallies.
Digi Nic Dowd also scored. The fourth-line center intercepted a defenseman’s shot from the point and lobbed the puck into the back of the net. “Proud of you,” Paige Dowd, Nic’s wife, said on Twitter laughing.
The Capitals have now scored 11 goals so far and none of them have been by Alex Ovechkin.

With the coronavirus outbreak pausing the NHL’s 2019-20 season, NBC Sports Washington aired a videogame simulation of tonight’s canceled real-life game between the Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues. Digi Nicklas Backstrom scored a hat trick to give the Caps a 5-3 victory, but the first and second stars were broadcasters Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin. Joe B and Locker brought humor and fun to an otherwise dreary, self-quarantine-y night.

“Hagelin looks like he colored his hair a little darker,” a bemused Beninati said.
“It’s his home away from home,” Laughlin said after Tom Wilson was ushered to the penalty box. “He makes a lot of friends there.”
“Not that Rob Thomas,” Craig Laughlin said of Blues’ center Robert Thomas, referring to the Matchbox 20 lead singer.
“Where are all the hats, guys? Where are all the hats?” a shocked Laughlin said after Backstrom tallied his powerplay, empty-net goal for the hatty.
