Rod Brind’Amour says Hurricanes did not get swept after getting swept: ‘We didn’t lose four games’

The Florida Panthers advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 27 years after eliminating the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final during Game Four on Wednesday night.

The Panthers, by virtue of winning the first four games of a best-of-seven series, completed what is called a series sweep. As in, the Hurricanes did not win a single game. They got swept.

But don’t tell that to Hurricanes’ head coach Rod Brind’Amour. Rod understands his team’s season is over, but during his post-series press conference, he revealed that he did not believe Carolina was swept or lost all four games in a classical/moral-victory sense.

Rod Brind’Amour fined for ‘inappropriate conduct’ during Capitals game

Rod Brind’Amour will be forced to Rod Spend’SomeMore after his “inappropriate conduct” during Sunday’s Capitals game.

The Hurricanes head coach was apoplectic late in the third period after officials made a textbook slashing call on Sebastian Aho that gave the Capitals a 5-on-3 power play.

Aho broke Aliaksei Protas’s stick in half at the blue line near the benches. Dmitry Orlov scored on the resulting power play to give the Capitals a 3-2 lead with 2:55 remaining.

Tom Wilson gets misconduct, goes after Hurricanes bench after head coach Rod Brind’Amour yells at him

Tom Wilson had a strong game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, but it was not without controversy.

Wilson received 14 penalty minutes and blew a gasket during a late second-period exchange with the Carolina Hurricanes bench.

The Capitals forward had to be ushered away from the Hurricanes bench by two officials before being escorted to the tunnel on the other side of the ice.

Andrei Svechnikov was taken to the hospital after getting knocked out by Alex Ovechkin in fight

On Tuesday, Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour provided an update on the status of Andrei Svechnikov, who was knocked out after absorbing three punches from the Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin in Game Three.

Brind’Amour confirmed that Svechnikov had been taken to the hospital after the fight to be checked out.

Rod Brind’Amour on Alex Ovechkin’s fight: ‘It made me sick’

Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour couldn’t say anything specific about Andre Svechnikov’s injury resulting from the fight with Alex Ovechkin. By that point the rookie had already been taken to the hospital. Brind’Amour did have more to say about the Capitals captain.

Svechnikov, one of the Canes rising stars who just turned 19 in March, “has a special bond with our group,” Brind’Amour said, “and me too. So when you see (him get injured like) that, it makes you sick. I’m still sick to my stomach about it.”
