I now believe in Panda Power 🐼🐼🐼

The Washington Capitals had three honored guests at Capital One Arena for their tilt against the New York Islanders, Thursday.

Cardboard cutouts of the National Zoo’s pandas — Tian Tian, Mei Xiang, and Xiao Qi Ji — were placed in the stands along with fans, season ticket holders, and the stars of Cobra Kai.

The furry bears ended up seeing one of the most ridiculous hockey games in Capitals history and turned me into a believer of their magical panda powers.

National Zoo’s four-month-old panda cub, Xiao Qi Ji, plays hockey to celebrate Capitals’ season opener

A big panda is wishing the Capitals’ good luck this season and I’m not talking about Bradley Beal.

The National Zoo’s four-month-old giant panda cub, Xiao Qi Ji, played with a puck almost as large as its body to celebrate the Capitals’ season opener.

“A slapshot straight to the heart,” the National Zoo wrote. “Sending love to D.C. and our hometown team as they start their season tonight. Go Caps!”

The National Zoo is taunting the Pittsburgh Penguins ahead of Game Five

We have big news. The National Zoo is rooting for the Washington Capitals in Game Five and WANTS A PIECE OF PITTSBURGH’S NATIONAL AVIARY.

An hour before puck drop, the National Zoo’s official Twitter account got in a heated Twitter beef with the National Aviary about which species of bird is better.

Bird nerds, grab some popcorn because this is some unreal chriping.

Photos From Caps STH Party at the National Zoo: Alex Ovechkin Meets an Elephant, Caps Sign Autographs

Last night, the Washington Capitals held their annual Season Ticket Holder party. In years past, the event was held at Six Flags America. This year, the venue was switched to the National Zoo. Take that, Dan Snyder.

There was some player/animal interaction.

Before Alex Ovechkin signed autographs for his adoring fans, he got a private tour of the grounds and met the elephants. It’s only been a few days, but, wow, Ovechkin’s Movember mustache already makes him look like a college computer programming major.

Tom Wilson also met a lion – and probably got a wee bit too close to the cage.

RMNB sent Amanda Bowen to the grounds and had her document the night in photos. Take a look below.
