It appears Nationals GM Mike Rizzo was tossed from a private suite for not wearing a mask

The Washington Nationals lost to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon, but that wasn’t the major storyline from the game.

Mike Rizzo, who signed a three-year extension yesterday, was watching the Nationals alone in a third-level suite. In the seventh inning, after a questionable strike call, Rizzo reacted out loud, apparently loud enough to be heard on field level. Umpire Joe West noticed Rizzo and then ejected him for not wearing a mask.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Washington Nationals cancel team workout after delays in coronavirus test results

With MLB coronavirus testing floundering, the Washington Nationals have opted to cancel practice on Monday.

Nationals’ general manager Mike Rizzo announced the decision through release to the media.

Washington Nationals won’t raise championship banner or give players World Series rings until fans are back at Nats Park

The Washington Nationals were supposed to celebrate their first world championship in team history a few weeks ago. Instead, the Major League Baseball season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While the MLB probes different ways to start their season potentially without fans, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo made clear in an interview Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio that the organization was not going to raise its World Series banner or give out rings until fans can celebrate with the team in person.

The Washington Nationals reunited on Zoom to watch themselves win the World Series. These were the best moments.

The Washington Nationals’ World Series champion team reunited on Zoom to re-watch Game Seven of the World Series, Tuesday night. Hosted by MASN’s Dan Kolko and Nats’ first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, the players tuned in from their homes around the world and hung out live to benefit Zimmerman’s newly created charity, Pros For Heroes. By the end of the night, the Nats had raised over $200,000 for charity.

The Nats’ Zoom reunion was was unfiltered, fun, and honest. It was as if we were a fly on the wall of a private clubhouse party and we were hearing all the juicy parts.

From making fun of the Astros’ cheating to Brian Dozier ripping off his shirt (again), these were the best moments.

Mike Rizzo put the World Series Trophy on his window sill to celebrate the Nationals’ home opener

On Thursday night, Dalton Thomas was outside his home when he noticed something peculiar in the window of one famous DC resident: the silhouette of the World Series Trophy. But this wasn’t some extravagant replica. It was the real thing.

Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo, who lives in Navy Yard, put the Commissioner’s Trophy out “[i]n honor of Opening Day!” according to The Washington Post’s Barry Svrluga.

Dalton took several photos of the Commissioner’s Trophy, including one where he pointed at it from far away.

Evgeny Kuznetsov attends Washington Wizards game rocking Bradley Beal jersey

Fresh of a three-point night against the Florida Panthers, Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov attended the Wizards-Cavaliers game at Capital One Arena. The Cavs beat the Wizards 113-100.

Sitting courtside, Kuznetsov rocked a Bradley Beal jersey while joined at the game by Abe Hamrah of Designo Motoring and Russian national soccer team member, Aleksandr Samedov.

Adam Eaton fanboys meeting NHL legend Bobby Orr at Nationals Spring Training

Spring training can be weird. Last February, the Nationals were visited by a camel. Earlier this week, Nationals pitchers spent the day throwing lettuce.

Wednesday, Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Orr, who is considered one of the greatest NHL defensemen of all-time, stopped by the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches to meet the Nationals.

Nationals outfielder Adam Eaton geeked out meeting the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks alumnus.

Alex Ovechkin among several prominent DC athletes present for Wizards Game Six win over Celtics

Two days after watching his season end prematurely against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and his grotesquely bruised thigh attended Game Six of the Washington Wizards’ second-round series against the Boston Celtics. Ovechkin nabbed courtside seats and was joined at the game by his wife Nastya Ovechkina, his older brother Mikhail Ovechkin, and his close friend Gus.

The Wizards, who were down 3-2 and facing elimination, won 92-91 after John Wall nailed a clutch three over Avery Bradley with 3.5 seconds left.

Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo Wears Blackhawks Jersey to Winter Classic

Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo (and let me emphasize the WASHINGTON NATIONALS part) wore something to the Winter Classic that might stun you.

“It’s a Bobby Hull jersey,” the Chicago-born Rizzo said to the NHL Network’s Billy Jaffe with a big smile. “It’s a throwback.”
