The NHL’s silly season has arrived. In NASCAR, this means the offseason. But in the NHL, it’s the postseason where the Department of Player Safety seems to get lenient on some pretty dangerous stuff.
After the Opening Night of the 2022 Playoffs concluded, five players received supplemental discipline. But for everyone involved, it was a mere slap on the wrists.
Tom Wilson got in some hot water with the Toronto Maple Leafs after a hustle play resulted in goaltender Jack Campbell being clipped in the head accidentally.
Campbell remained in the game and did not suffer an injury.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie tweeted that the Caps could have a deal in the works with the Los Angeles Kings for a depth forward, but needed to clear cap space to make it happen.
McKenzie’s tweets come on the heels of RMNB’s Ian Oland reporting that the Capitals are moving DSP off the roster to complete a trade.

Monday night, the Washington Capitals defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 at Staples Center. There were some fireworks.
Caps enforcer Tom Wilson had several angry run-ins with opposing players in the third period.
His most assertive confrontation… came with a mascot.
For anyone who has ever called Mike Green “soft,” the apology line forms to the left.
Late in the third period, after the Caps had a 4-0 lead, Green put an exclamation point on the Caps’ victory over the defending Cup champions by checking Kyle Clifford into the Caps bench.
