Garnet Hathaway ejected for boarding and bloodying Jarred Tinordi

Garnet Hathaway hit the showers early in the Capitals’ 6-3 loss to the Bruins on Sunday and context might have been key here.

The Capitals’ fourth-line winger hit Jarred Tinordi in the back of the numbers, sending the Bruins defenseman onto his knees and headfirst into the boards. After a several-minute review, officials decided to give Hathaway a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

But the play wasn’t without its own controversy.

Tom Wilson fights Jarred Tinordi and Trent Frederic in same game

Tom Wilson was a busy boy in Friday’s Capitals-Bruins game.

Wilson knocked Brandon Carlo out of the game with a big hit in the first period. Later, he got in two fights with two different Bruins heavyweights.

Former Capital Mark Tinordi Watches His Son Jarred Fight Tom Wilson (Video)

In the first period of Caps-Habs, we had a bizarre situation unfurl during a Tom Wilson/Jarred Tinordi fight. It wasn’t so much that Wilson and Tinordi were trying to angrily face punch each other. It was the fact that Jarred’s dad, former Capital Mark Tinordi, was in the stands watching it all with the rest of the Tinordi family.

Nate Schmidt Gets Elbowed Violently in the Head by Jarred Tinordi (GIF)

Last season, Washington Capitals defense prospect Nate Schmidt had his year ended early after suffering a knee injury on a low-bridge hit by Norfolk Admirals defenseman Garnet Exelby.

Playing Montreal on Sunday, Schmidt narrowly missed a head injury after getting elbowed in the noggin by Jarred Tinordi, son of former Capital, Mark Tinordi.
