The Colorado Avalanche got some pretty terrible news on Saturday. Head coach Jared Bednar announced to the media that top-four defenseman Samuel Girard has broken his sternum and will be out for the rest of the playoffs.
Girard suffered the injury on a brutal hit behind the net by St. Louis Blues forward Ivan Barbashev.

Then things got dire in the third period when former Caps/current infant-child Andre Burakovsky got popped in the face by Blues forward Ivan Barbashev, putting Burakovsky’s priceless grin in peril.
