Capitals prospect Bogdan Trineyev returning from loan after Dynamo Moscow knocked out of KHL playoffs

Washington Capitals forward prospect Bogdan Trineyev is headed back stateside. The 2020 fourth-round draft selection’s loan season with Dynamo Moscow of the KHL ended after Dynamo crashed out in the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in six games.

It appears, via CapFriendly, that Trineyev will report to the AHL’s Hershey Bears where he played two Calder Cup playoff games last season skating on the top line.

Alex Ovechkin takes the ice with Dynamo Moscow and participates in their open training session

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin put on his Dynamo Moscow gear and took the ice with his former KHL team for a preseason open training session at VTB Arena.

Before the skate, fans were introduced to the coaching staff and new roster for the upcoming season. Ovechkin came out last wearing his familiar blue number 32.

Capitals prospect Bogdan Trineyev to start next season with Dynamo Moscow, not Hershey

The Washington Capitals selected Russian left wing Bogdan Trineyev in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft out of Dynamo Moscow’s development system. The 20-year-old signed his entry-level deal with the franchise this past May.

In a recent interview with Dmitry Erykalov of Sport24 in Russia, Trineyev revealed he’ll be spending the 2022-23 season on loan in the KHL with Dynamo.

Capitals 2020 draft pick Bogdan Trineyev skates on top line in first AHL game with Hershey Bears

The Hershey Bears grabbed a crucial 2-1 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Game Two of their first-round series Sunday night. The win forced the best-of-three matchup to a third and final game that will take place Monday night.

Bogdan Trineyev, the Capitals’ recently-signed 2020 fourth-round draft pick, was given a jersey and played his first career game for the Bears. The 20-year-old Russian, who wore number 88 with Dynamo Moscow in honor of Alex Ovechkin, notably skated on the Bears’ top line with Garrett Pilon and Mike Sgarbossa.

Capitals top draft pick Vincent Iorio recalled to Hershey Bears for AHL playoff run

The Washington Capitals announced Wednesday afternoon that they have recalled 2021 second-round pick, Vincent Iorio, from the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings to their AHL affiliate Hershey Bears.

Iorio will join a Bears team that is set for a postseason run that begins Friday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He was signed to his entry-level contract by the Caps last October.

Capitals sign 2020 fourth-round pick Bogdan Trineyev to three-year, entry-level contract

The Washington Capitals announced Monday afternoon that they have signed 2020 fourth-round draft pick Bogdan Trineyev to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $859,167 annually. Trineyev is the third member of the Caps 2020 draft class to sign an ELC after Hendrix Lapierre did so in October of 2020 and Garin Bjorklund did so just days ago.

The Russian winger spent most of his 2021-22 season playing for Dynamo Moscow’s junior team MHC Dynamo Moscow in the MHL (think the AHL of the KHL). He also got into 20 games at the KHL level for Dynamo, 11 in the regular season and nine in the playoffs. Trineyev recorded 18 points in 21 games in his junior league action and grabbed one assist in Alex Ovechkin’s former team’s postseason run.
