The NHL announced on Wednesday that the Carolina Hurricanes’ first outdoor game is kaput, at least for now.
The team was scheduled to host the 2021 Stadium Series game at Carter-Finley Stadium on February 20, 2021. Instead, it has been canceled and will be made up “in the near future.”
Update: The Washington Capitals commented on The Athletic’s and Adam Gold’s reporting and say they will not be the Hurricanes’ opponent for the Stadium Series game. The Washington Post’s Samantha Pell reported the news.

99.9 The Fan’s Adam Gold reported Saturday that the Carolina Hurricanes will be hosting a Stadium Series game at the home of NC State’s football team, Carter-Finley Stadium.
Gold tabbed the Capitals and the Penguins as the possible opponents.
