Every game that the Washington Capitals get someone back from their lengthy injury list it seems like they add two more players back onto it soon after. That common annoyance didn’t hamper the Caps’ performance in Edmonton on Monday as they stymied Connor McDavid and the Oilers in a very nice 3-2 victory.
No new injuries? Everyone cross all of your fingers and toes.

The Washington Capitals played a damn good road game against Connor McDavid’s Edmonton Oilers on Monday night. Frankly, I had a really good time watching this game.
Unrewarded for a strong first period, the Capitals ceded the first goal to Brett Kulak, screened thricewise. Lars Eller caught a turnover and tied it up. John Carlson handed Connor McDavid a shorthanded breakaway to blow that lead. TJ Oshie tied it up from the slot on that same power play. Aliaksei Protas was a monster in the third period, setting up late man Nic Dowd for the go-ahead goal.
Caps win!

Welcome to Game 5 of the Capitals’ season-long six-game road trip. Tonight our dear Capitals will take on the Edmonton Oilers where they will now be without Martin Fehervary and Darcy Kuemper who got injured against the Calgary Flames.
The Capitals, who remain under .500 and out of a possible playoff spot, are 1-2-1 on this road trip so far. They’ve given up five goals twice and scored two or fewer goals three times.
It’s unclear if the Capitals are going to be able to turn it around against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisailt. But they need to turn things around soon or they made have dug a hole too deep to get out of.
The Capitals previously played the Oilers at home in early November. They beat Edmonton 5-4, and went four-for-five on the power play.
Tonight’s game is on NBC Sports Washington and puck drop is a little after 8:30.
