Tom Wilson has officially played in 900 career NHL games.

To honor the achievement, the Washington Capitals put together a tribute video for their alternate captain. The club played the video during the first TV time out in Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

“Being the third-youngest Capital to reach this mark speaks to the immediate impact and legacy you’ve built since debuting in this sweater in 2013,” the Capitals wrote on X. “Congrats on 900 career games and here’s to the many more accomplishments to come, Willy!”

The video is full of Wilson’s best moments in a Capitals jersey, including his first-round selection at the 2012 NHL Draft, first career goal during the 2013-14 season, winning the 2018 Stanley Cup, multiple Gordie Howe hat tricks, and his infamous swollen face game against the Montreal Canadiens.

After the video concluded, Wilson had his achievement announced to the crowd by the Capitals’ PA announcer, Wes Johnson, drawing applause from fans in attendance and stick taps from the players on the ice. Wilson stood up from his spot on the bench and waved in acknowledgment.

Once play was restarted, Wilson made sure to leave his mark on an increasingly physical matchup with the Flyers. After throwing a few big hits, the 32-year-old winger picked up a drop pass from Pierre-Luc Dubois and wired a wrist shot past Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar to open the game’s scoring.

The goal was Wilson’s 26th of the season and his ninth game-opening marker. He is tied with Canadiens winger Juraj Slakovsky for the most game-opening goals in the NHL this year.

Wilson added a second goal with just 1:04 remaining in regulation, hitting an empty net from 171 feet away. He now has six multi-goal performances this season.

Wilson (32y, 2d) is the third-youngest player in Washington Capitals history to reach 900 games, lagging behind just Alex Ovechkin (31y, 161d) and Nicklas Backstrom (31y, 321d). He is the seventh player overall to play 900 games with Washington, joining Ovechkin, Backstrom, John Carlson, Calle Johansson, Peter Bondra, and Kelly Miller.

In his 900 games, he has recorded 449 points (206g, 243a). This season, he has racked up 54 points (27g, 27a) in 65 games.
