Andrew Cristall becomes first WHL player in 21st century to reach 400 career points

Andrew Cristall continues to score at an unprecedented rate in his final junior season with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs.

Cristall recorded his 14th game this season with at least four points in a 9-2 victory against the Victoria Royals on Saturday night. In doing so, he became the first WHL player in the 21st century to reach 400 career points.

Cristall hit the quadruple-century mark after notching his fourth of five points (2g, 3a) against the Royals. The milestone came on linemate Berkly Catton’s goal 1:10 into the third period. Crisall and Catton played a cross-ice give-and-go to put Spokane up 6-1.

The assist was Cristall’s third of the game and 77th of the year. The five-point outing gives the Washington Capitals prospect 121 points (44g, 77a) in 51 games for the Chiefs and Kelowna Rockets this season. He is averaging 2.37 points per game.

Ty Rattie 348 269 2008-2013
Sam Steel 338 259 2013-2018

Cristall, still wearing a full bubble face shield, also potted two goals in the win, moving him six markers shy of his first 50-goal junior campaign. To get to 50, he’d need to score at a goal-per-game pace for the rest of the season as Spokane plays just six more regular-season games.

Cristall is on pace for 135 points (49g, 86a) if he plays in Spokane’s remaining six games. His previous career high was the 111 points (40g, 71a) he recorded in 62 games for the Rockets last year.

The Chiefs are 42-18-2 and have the third-most points (86) of any WHL team. Cristall will likely join the AHL’s Hershey Bears once Spokane’s season concludes.
