After winning a second-straight Calder Cup this spring, the returning Hershey Bears from their 2024 title team now have the bling to prove it. The Bears gathered at The Hotel Hershey for a ceremonial unveiling of their championship rings two days ahead of the team’s season opener.
Each player in attendance was presented with their own championship ring created by Baron, who also crafted last year’s rings.
The rings feature Hershey’s roaring Bears head logo on the top, surrounded by 14 brown diamonds and the words Calder Cup Champions. The 14 stones represent each one of the team’s playoff victories. Encircling the Bears’ logo are 53 white diamonds, symbolizing the team’s 53 regular-season wins.
Along the ring’s top sides are 13 additional white diamonds on each side. The 13 diamonds on the left represent the franchise’s 13 Calder Cup Championships, while the 13 diamonds on the right represent the ninth time the Bears won the AHL regular-season title and the fourth time they finished in first place during the regular season and won the Calder Cup.
The sides feature an image of two Calder Cups and each player’s name and number. The team’s sayings Repeat the Roar and Back to Back also adorn the perimeter. The inside engraving features the word FAMILY and shows Hershey’s record in the four 2024 playoff series they won.
At the ceremony on Thursday night, the Bears all lined up to see their rings for the first time. After a countdown initiated by Zack Fisch, the voice of the Bears, the players opened their ring boxes.
The room was filled with oohs and ahhs. Pierrick Dubé, who scored a hat trick in the Cup-winning game last June, even let out a “they’re sexy” as he got his first glimpse.
The 2023-24 Bears have also had all of their names engraved on the Calder Cup.
The Bears will get their attempted three-peat underway this season on Saturday night against the Cleveland Monsters. Hershey will raise another banner to the rafters of Giant Center ahead of puck drop and will be wearing special jerseys to commemorate their back-to-back championships. The game will be free to watch on live stream.
Hershey will return with much of their core from last year’s team as well as their entire coaching staff. Hunter Shepard, Mike Vecchione, Ivan Miroshnichenko, Matt Strome, Henrik Rybinski, and Vincent Iorio will all lead the way on the ice as Todd Nelson again guides behind the bench.
