As the NHL’s current season comes to a close, the Washington Capitals are already making plans to get back on the ice.
Washington will play the Philadelphia Flyers at home on September 22 in what appears likely to be its first game of the 2024 preseason. While the Caps have yet to release any details on the upcoming campaign, the Flyers announced the game on Monday as part of their preseason calendar.
It'll be here before you know it.

The preseason matchup will come just over five months after the Capitals and Flyers battled for a playoff spot in the final game of the regular season on April 16.
With both teams’ playoff chances hanging in the balance, the Caps came out on top thanks to an empty-net goal from TJ Oshie.
After a New York Rangers sweep ended Washington’s season, the Caps will look to repeat their bid for a playoff spot again in 2024-25, while Philadelphia will attempt to turn their near-miss into a shot at the postseason.
With the Stanley Cup Final potentially ending as soon as Tuesday night, fans will have plenty of scheduling news to look forward to.
Update: The Boston Bruins released their preseason schedule Monday afternoon, revealing more of the Capitals’ preseason matchups. The Caps and Bruins will face off twice: once in TD Garden in Boston on September 24, and once at Capital One Arena on October 5.
