The KHL announced the winners of its yearly awards on Monday after the coronavirus pandemic caused an abrupt end to the Russian league’s season.
A year after being let go by the Washington Capitals, Dmitrij Jaskin was named the KHL MVP after having a huge first season with Dynamo Moscow.

“It feels really good to be chosen for such a prestigious award, especially in my first season in the league,” Jaskin said according to a translation by Aivis Kalnins of Full Press Coverage.
The Czech scored 31 goals and collected 63 points in 58 games.

Jaskin also won the award for the Top Line in the KHL. He skated with Swede André Petersson and one-time Vegas Golden Knight, Vadim Shipachyov.

Jaskin signed a two-year extension with Dynamo in April.
Former Capital Alex Semin was honored as well for his “loyalty to hockey.” The Vityaz captain and 36-year-old forward was named the top veteran player in the league.

“It’s a great honor to receive an award named after a man like Sergei Gimayev, a man who always told it as he saw it,” Semin said again according to a translation by Kalnins. “Thank you to the KHL for recognizing my contribution to our team. I feel great, I don’t feel my age at all and I can still enjoy playing the game that I love. It’s just a pity how things ended: I got an injury, Vityaz came out of the playoffs, and then everything had to stop. But people’s health is more important than hockey. I hope that next season everything will get back to normal.”
