Brock Nelson patted the Hurricanes goalie’s head after an Islanders goal. Dougie Hamilton returned the favor in the handshake line.

The New York Islanders only scored five goals over the course of their four-game sweep at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes, but one of those goals certainly left a big impression. The Isles’ Brock Nelson gave Canes’ goalie Curtis McElhinney a pat on the head after Josh Bailey snuck one past him in Game Three.

Canes’ defenseman Dougie Hamilton didn’t forget the insult, and during the handshake line after Carolina’s 5-2 win to take the series, Hamilton gave Nelson a little pat on the head of his own.

After shaking the hand of Robin Lehner, Dougie Hamilton came face to face with Brock Nelson. The two shook hands before Hamilton trolled Nelson with the little throwback. Nelson looked behind him afterward to double-check what had just gone down.

Hamilton had a good view of Nelson disrespecting his goalie when the incident occurred, and the recreation was spot-on.

Buh-bye, Isles. Don’t let the door or Dougie hit you on the way out.
