After being infinity-scratched and forbidden to go to the World Junior Championship, head coach Barry Trotz put Andre Burakovsky back in his natural position on Sunday. He even gave the 19-year-old rookie a comfy spot on the first line next to Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin. The move paid off. Burakovsky scored the first game-winning goal of his career in Washington’s 4-3 win over Florida.

After Jack Hillen throws a shot on net from the point, Ovechkin gathers the rebound. Instead of shooting, Ovechkin skates laterally and passes the puck to the Burracuda. Burakovsky does the rest.
That’s when things get strange. Burakovsky high-fives his teammates on the bench, but one of them punches him right in the face. That’s not nice. Maybe even a little mean.

Who would do something so dastardly? RMNB Investigates!
I slowed the game tape down as much as I could to dig for an answer.

It was fellow countryman Marcus Johansson! Of all the pranksters on this team, he would be the last guy I’d guess.
So welcome back to the line-up, Andre. Hope you don’t have a concussion.
