The Capitals gave up the first goal of the game. Again. To This Guy. But they soon got it back thanks to Daniel Winnik’s first goal as a Cap and a textbook slap-pass by Evgeny Kuznetsov.
Holtby played the puck from the Caps’ end. It ended up on the stick of the league’s leading primary assist man, Evgeny Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov feigned a slapshot, then sent a smooth saucey pass to Daniel Winnik, whose 63rd career goal was his first in a Washington uniform.
Look at this.
CSN Mid-Atlantic’s Craig Laughlin was bamboozled by the goal. “It’s one of the nicest [assists] of the season,” Laughlin said. “I’ve never seen something like that. That’s a world class pass.”
It would be Kuznetsov’s 39th primary assist of the season.
And he wasn’t done yet…
