Tuesday morning’s practice debuted the line combinations and defensive pairings we’re likely to see on Thursday’s game one against the Philadephia Flyers.
You’re going to like ’em.
These come to you by way of NHL.com’s Katie Brown. In the text format you’re used to from pregames, it looks like this:
Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie
Burakovsky – Kuznetsov – Williams
Chimera – Richards – Johansson
Winnik – Beagle – Wilson
Orpik – Carlson
Alzner- Niskanen
Schmidt- Orlov
Holtby
And now… headshots.

Notes
- The top line of Alex Ovechkin – Nick Backstrom – TJ Oshie skated together twice last week, but had gone nearly a month apart before then.
- The starting third line of Jason Chimera – Mike Richards – Marcus Johansson is new, debuting in game 81 only and appearing sparsely throughout the season.
- The Caps seem to be going with reliability and grit on their fourth line, featuring Jay Beagle‘s faceoff skills and Tom Wilson‘s pest potential.
- Trotz has reunited John Carlson and Brooks Orpik. They played together twice last week, but before that it had been since mid November.
- Mike Weber and Taylor Chorney are your extra defensemen. (And Pat Holden just lost our side bet about this.)
