Alternate Captain Tom Wilson hits Hurricanes player so hard he spins him around like a top

The Capitals opened their preseason tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Only a handful of Caps regulars played, leading Tom Wilson to be one of the team’s three alternate captains for the game. In the first period, Wilson nearly checked a Carolina Hurricane player into outer space.

That looks like it hurts a whole lot. Patrick Brown needs to keep his head up.

The Hurricanes center would later get his revenge a few minutes later. Brown would score after Wilson and Brooks Orpik combined for a turnover in the neutral zone.

Unrelated: Wilson was also on the ice for this.
