Christian Djoos scores first career goal in his first career NHL game on his first career shot

The Capitals have cracked the shutout thanks to a big shot by defenseman Christian Djoos, playing in his first ever NHL game.

Late in the second, Lars Eller got the puck in the offensive zone and found Djoos wide open. Djoos loosed a one-timer to beat Pittsburgh goalie Matt Murray on the short side.

It was his first career shot on goal. Caps PA announcer Wes Johnson had the honor of calling the goal for Capital One Arena (video via Byron Hudtloff).

The 23-year-old Swede was a hit in the preseason but did not make his NHL debut until tonight. He joins Nathan Walker, who also scored in his first NHL game last week. The Caps trail the Penguins 2-1 heading into the third period.
