Things didn’t turn out great for the Caps on Friday night in Arizona. But the team in red can get back on track in Vegas on Saturday night against the Golden Knights.
You know the Schmidtuation. We know the Schmidtuation. The Golden Knights have a player named Nate Schmidt. We kind of like that guy and were bummed when Vegas selected him in the expansion draft.
Vegas is 14-2-1 at home so far this season which I’m sure has nothing to do with opposing players visiting casinos and the like while they are in town.
It’s an 8 PM game and NBCSW has the TV coverage. Some guy named Peter Hassett will have the recap for you tonight.

Schmidt Talk
As far as I remember, Peter was the first writer on the Schmidt bandwagon. Let’s celebrate that today with some Peter/Schmidt related links
- A Twitter search of “@peterhassett schmidt” sure is fun.
- Peter’s first Schmidt season review on RMNB.
- Remember when Taylor Chorney got ice time over Nate?
- In which Peter correctly calls for the Caps to play Schmidt every night and protect him in the expansion draft.
This is just a small sample. Have any Schmidt links you want to share? Leave them in the comments.
Storylines
- The game against the Coyotes didn’t turn out great but that Jakub Vrana pass on Oshie’s goal was great.
- Vegas might be the real deal and their second line is a big reason why.
- Maybe it’s a good thing that the Caps played last night and didn’t have a chance to hit the town in Vegas.
- A Q&A with GMGM.
- Milan Lucic made a dream come true.
Birthdays!
TJ Oshie turns 31 today and Eddie Vedder turns 53. Having grown up listening to Pearl Jam, Vedder turning 53 is yet another reminder of how quickly this whole life thing goes by. Here’s one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs, one that talks about attempting to live in the moment because, after all, our time on this planet is going to be over in the blink of an eye. Carpe Diem, my friends.
