Leafs trade Eric Fehr to Sharks for seventh round pick in 2020

Former Capital Eric Fehr is on the move again.

Tuesday afternoon, Pierre LeBrun reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs traded the Capitals all-time leader in outdoor goals to the San Jose Sharks for a seventh round pick.

Or as this Twitter user so succinctly put it.

Fehr played in only four games in Toronto this season before being sent down to the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies in early November. But instead of joining Toronto’s minor-league team, the Leafs loaned Fehr to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s AHL affiliate.

Since then, Fehr has tore it up for the Gulls, scoring 17 goals in 34 games. It’s the most goals Fehr has scored at any level since the 2014-15 season with Washington (19). Fehr’s 28 points also rank fourth on the team.

Fehr will be reunited in San Jose with injured forward Joel Ward and former Caps PR guy Ben Guerrero.

Over the last 24 hours, several teams have made minor deals ahead of the February 26 trade deadline.

Washington landed Michal Kempny from the Chicago Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek and Nick Holden also were flipped to other teams.
