Becoming Stanley Cup champions gives you a certain swagger, and it’s fair to say Carolina Hurricanes mascot Stormy is feeling pretty saucy these days.
The beefin’ mascot has a bit where he holds up a piece of paper during home games at Lenovo Center with a clever, or perhaps tired, observation, trying to be a Sophisticated Pig.
His latest jab came Frozen Frenzy Tuesday, when he shared what can only be described as a devastating diss of the Capitals’ branding — a diss that is not new at all.
HOT TAKE:
THE WASHINGTON CAPITALS LOGO IS LOWERCASE.
ALSO, OINK..
For reference:

Please note that the Washington part is uppercase, so technically his observation is not completely right. Stormy, you trippin’.
Against the Canucks, Stormy also recently held up a message of solidarity to Vancouver’s working class, going viral on Reddit.
STORMY NOT SOPHISTICATED ICE HOG, BUT EVEN STORMY KNOW:
THE ALLOWANCE OF FOREIGN INVESTORS IN METRO VANCOUVER MUST NOT ONLY BE MET WITH STEEP ANNUAL LEVIES IF PROPERTIES ARE LEFT UNATTENDED, ALONGSIDE BRITISH COLUMBIA’S 20% FOREIGN PURCHASE SURCHARGE, BUT THE 2027 EXPIRATION OF THE FEDERAL FOREIGN BUYER BAN REPRESENTS A FLASHPOINT IN THE REAL ESTATE MARKET THAT COULD HAVE GENERATIONAL RAMIFICATIONS IF NOT REENACTED.
ALSO, OINK.
In turn, the message was discussed on the podcast What Chaos, which I’m only sharing because I found this all very silly.
You might ask what the point of this article is. Like, Ian, why did you write this? And there is a reason, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe it’s because I love the attempt at humor in a sport so scared to embrace the stupid. Or maybe it’s because I just wanted to make some pit beef jokes. Or maybe it’s because I really want the Capitals to see this and never lose to this team and fanbase again because they are so very, very lame.
Yeah, probably that last one.
