Lacey Eden, an Annapolis, Maryland, native, is officially a PWHLer.
The fifth overall pick in the 2026 PWHL Draft signed with expansion club PWHL Las Vegas on Monday.
“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity that lies ahead in Vegas. I can’t wait to be a part of the local hockey community, and I am excited to help build a winning culture in this new organization,” Eden said, per a release from the team.
Eden is locked up with PWHL Las Vegas for two seasons on a Standard Player Agreement, the typical contract for PWHL players.
“We are incredibly excited to officially welcome Lacey to Las Vegas,” general manager Dominique DiDia said. “She’s a player we felt strongly about from the beginning, and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to draft her. Her skill, hockey sense, and competitiveness immediately stood out to us, but just as importantly, she is a winner who brings the versatility, integrity, and the mindset we want to define our team.”
As an official member of the squad, Eden helped reveal the team’s inaugural season jerseys on Thursday alongside first overall pick Tessa Janecke and Hayley Scamurra, daughter of former Washington Capitals defenseman Peter Scamurra.
The three modeled the new green-and-yellow threads with dark blue accents. Eden sported jersey number 67, Scamurra 16, and Janecke 22.
Scamurra’s jersey also appeared in the team’s promotional video, worn by two models showing off the jerseys in the desert.
Playing at the University of Wisconsin, Eden became the only player in history to win four NCAA women’s hockey championships. She played in 178 career NCAA games and recorded 245 points (105g, 140a). She has also played for Team USA in five straight IIHF Women’s World Championships, earning two gold and three silver medals.
Eden is ready to bring her winning experience to help build the expansion team from the ground.
“I know what it takes to win,” Eden said in a video posted to the team’s Instagram. “I know how to win. I know how to compete to win. And that’s something that shows in my game and something that I’m excited to bring to this next level.
“I’m excited to help build this franchise,” she continued. “It’s very cool to be a part of a new program and be that first group of athletes to build a culture and build a legacy for the future of this program.”
Eden is the 15th player under contract for PWHL Las Vegas. She will play under a fellow Maryland native, head coach Kim Weiss.
PWHL Las Vegas will play their first-ever game when they kick off the 2026 PWHL preseason on November 22 against the Minnesota Frost.
