Dylan Strome was back on the ice for a charity game in Brampton, Ontario, on Wednesday night.
Strome was one of many current and former pro players who suited up for “Hockey Night in Brampton” at the CAA Centre. The event raised funds for the construction of a second hospital in Brampton.
Strome’s starring moment in the game came during the shootout, where he dazzled with a one-handed poke move to score for Team Messier. The video, posted by TSN’s Mark Masters, went viral on social media.

Other past and present NHL stars involved in the game included Gary Roberts, Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark, Pavel Mintyukov, Michael Misa, Paul Coffey, Ryan Getzlaf, Mark Giordano, Curtis Joseph, Kris Versteeg, Owen Power, and former Washington Capitals assistant coach Kirk Muller.
Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Messier was the captain of the team that Strome played for, and Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly was the captain of the other. The game ended in a 9-9 tie and raised $2.525 million for charity.
Strome should be back in DC soon as preparations for training camp ramp up. Many Capitals players are already getting in preseason work at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, with a big group jumping on the ice there on Thursday morning.
Strome will be looking to bounce back from a down year with the Capitals, which saw him fail to record at least 60 points in the regular season for the first time since he joined the club in 2022.
He was far and away Washington’s leader in the shootout this past season, ending up as the only player to convert more than once on an attempt. He went 4-for-8 overall, the only bright spot in what was a horrid campaign for the Capitals in the skills competition, as they won just two of eight games that went to a shootout.
