John Carlson may be an unrestricted free agent in July, but he’s locked into an autograph signing in August that’s in the Washington, DC area.
The longtime Washington Capitals defenseman will be appearing at Eavesdrop Brewery on Sunday, August 30, from 12 to 1:30 pm. The event, located in Manassas, VA, will be hosted by Above Average Graphing.
Autograph tickets for the Carlson signing are $79 each, while inscriptions will cost $20. Beckett authentication is also available for $10. Tickets can be purchased on the AAG.net website. A detailed FAQ can be read here.
Above Average Graphing will also be accepting mail-in items for signing. Those items are due by August 22.
“John was one of the faces of this franchise for 17 years, holding many records,” Monk Wells, the founder of Above Average Graphing, said. “Let’s give John the warm reception he deserves for so many outstanding years as a true leader on and off the ice.”
Carlson finished the 2025-26 season with the Anaheim Ducks after the Capitals dealt the rearguard at the trade deadline for a first and third-round pick. The Ducks advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but were eliminated by the Vegas Golden Knights in six games.
Carlson has maintained ties to the area since then, wearing a University of Maryland hat during his Breakdown Day interview with Ducks media and recently hanging out with goaltender Logan Thompson. He’s set to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Over the past year, Eavesdrop Brewery and Above Average Graphing have teamed up to bring some of the Capitals’ top stars out for meet and greets, including TJ Oshie, Tom Wilson, Aliaksei Protas, Logan Thompson, and Justin Sourdif. The events have been popular, and many have sold out.
Lars Eller will also be doing a meet-and-greet with fans on July 12 at the same venue.
