Pierre-Luc Dubois has appeared to escape the wrath of the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.

St. Louis Blues host and reporter, Andy Strickland, reported on X Wednesday morning that “no supplemental discipline is expected” for Dubois.

The Capitals centerman was in hot water after receiving a match penalty for intent to injure in the Washington Capitals’ 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.

Dubois received a five-minute major penalty and was ejected midway through the third period after hauling Blues forward Robert Thomas face-first down to the ice. Thomas, away from the puck, had set a pick on Dubois at the faceoff circle before Dubois wrapped his arms around him, causing them to both fall over. Thomas, who was injured on the play and did not return to the game, received a two-minute minor penalty for interference, while Dubois was sent early to the showers.

Per NHL Rule 21, Dubois’ match penalty triggered an automatic suspension until league commissioner Gary Bettman reviewed the case. But according to Strickland, Dubois, who has never received supplemental discipline in his nine-season NHL career, will be reinstated and will not face any further penalties.

The Capitals next play Thursday night against the Utah Mammoth at Delta Center. They have a 1 pm MT practice at Mammoth Ice Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The Caps have 10 games remaining in the 2025-26 season.
