The Washington Capitals were without high-scoring winger Aliaksei Protas against the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday night. The 25-year-old forward was listed as out due to “personal reasons,” as he and his wife, Tatsiana Protas, were expecting their second child.

After the game, Tatsiana posted a video on Instagram to celebrate the arrival of the couple’s newest bundle of joy, a baby girl.

“Today we became parents for the second time ❤️,” she wrote in the post’s caption, as translated via Google Translate. “We’ve been waiting for you for so long, together with your big sister, our little miracle. This was the magical moment when we found out who you would be… and today, we finally met you 🤍.”

In the video, seemingly shot this past summer, the Protas friends and family, including Aliaksei’s younger brother, Ilya, gather for a gender reveal party. For the big moment, sparklers and fireworks are set off, and plumes of pink powder and smoke are shot into the air.

The Protas family first grew three years ago, when they had their first daughter, Alice, who celebrated her third birthday just over two weeks ago.

Protas joins Martin Fehervary, whose first daughter, Anna, was born last month, Dylan Strome, whose third daughter, Sutton, was born during a November 21 game in Montreal against the Canadiens, and Jakob Chychrun, whose first child was born in January, as Capitals players to welcome new kids this season.

From everyone at RMNB, we’d like to extend our congratulations to Aliaksei and Tatsiana on the exciting news.
