The Washington Capitals will be without defensemen Rasmus Sandin and Matt Roy against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
Both players will miss the game due to lower-body injuries.
Sandin was unable to finish the Capitals’ last game, a 6-5 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. He played just 5:07 of ice time before suffering a lower-body injury with just 19 seconds remaining in the first period.
Roy finished the game against Edmonton, skating 21:27 of ice time on the team’s second defense pairing. The 30-year-old blueliner had played in all 53 games for the Capitals this season until this injury.
Capitals’ 1/27 lineup without Rasmus Sandin and Matt Roy
The two injuries on the backend will see Dylan McIlrath and Declan Chisholm draw in as the Capitals’ third pairing. McIlrath has not played since January 15 and has not skated more than 6:08 of ice time in any of the four games he has featured in this month.
Chisholm was also set to be a game-time decision in Seattle after missing Monday’s practice at Climate Pledge. The 26-year-old has not played since January 19’s game against the Colorado Avalanche.
Tom Wilson will play despite head coach Spencer Carbery not confirming he would be in the team’s lineup after the Capitals’ morning skate.
