The AHL announced Friday afternoon that Sunday’s matchup between the Hershey Bears and Charlotte Checkers has been postponed due to inclement weather forecast to impact the East Coast.
Puck drop between the two teams was originally scheduled for 5 pm at Giant Center. Hershey is in a part of Pennsylvania currently expected to get 12 to 18 inches of snow over the next few days.
The Bears say a make-up date for the game is yet to be determined. Fans with tickets to Sunday’s game are being asked to hold onto them until further information is communicated about the rescheduling.
Hershey’s game on Friday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins is unaffected. Puck drop is set for 7 pm inside Giant Center.
While the Washington Capitals are on the road until the end of the month, other events at their home rink, Capital One Arena, are being impacted by the upcoming storm. Monster Jam events scheduled for Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, January 25, have been postponed to a later date.
