The Washington Capitals were originally scheduled to practice at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena at 1:45 pm PT on Tuesday. However, those plans had to change due to some travel issues.
According to the Washington Post’s Bailey Johnson, the Capitals had plane issues and got stuck in Denver last night. The team landed in Vancouver only shortly before they were scheduled to take the ice for their skate.
The travel woes come after the Capitals fell 5-2 to the Avalanche on Monday night, extending their losing streak to three games. The team will be back on the ice at Rogers Arena on Wednesday morning ahead of playing the Canucks later that night.
Vancouver represents the Capitals’ best chance to turn things around after a tough couple of weeks, as they are the NHL’s last-place team and have lost eleven games in a row. In their last outing, they fell 4-3 to the New York Islanders despite holding two separate leads in the game.
The Capitals lost their lone prior meeting with the Canucks this season at home on October 19. They were down 4-0 in the game before scoring three unanswered goals, but were unable to notch a fourth and force overtime at Capital One Arena.
