The Hershey Bears are adding two classic vintage jersey designs as alternates for the rest of the 2025-26 season.
The Bears made the announcement in a press release on December 3 and comes as the AHL celebrates its 90th anniversary as a league.
“Skating Bear” throwback jersey
This weekend, the Bears will wear “Skating Bear” throwback jerseys. The sweaters will debut on Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, December 6, against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and be worn again on December 7 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The jerseys will then be auctioned off at the conclusion of the Phantoms game.
The sweaters are white and feature chocolate accents. Per the team, the crest features a variant of the popular “Skating Bear” logo that the club wore in the 1970s, including during the team’s 1974 Calder Cup win at Hersheypark Arena.

“1938 Throwbacks”
Hershey will also wear “1938 Throwbacks” seven times this season, three times at home and four times on the road — though all dates are subject to change, per the team.

- Jan. 28 vs Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena
- Jan. 30 vs Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena
- Apr. 19 vs Rochester at Giant Center
The jerseys are inspired by the sweaters Hershey wore in November of 1938, when the AHL was then known as the International-American Hockey League. The jerseys are white, with chocolate shoulders and arms. There are also three stripes across the front of the jersey. The crest features “Hershey” in script and the club’s original Bear logo on the front.
The Bears are partnering with other AHL teams to wear throwbacks to celebrate the league’s 90th season.
Fans will have a chance to win the jerseys as part of the club’s Jerseys Off Our Backs promotion on April 19. Replica jerseys will also be sold at the Team Store later in the season.
