The Hershey Bears defeated the best team in the AHL, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, on Saturday, delivering the Baby Pens a 6-2 loss at Giant Center.
Ilya Protas extended his goal streak to seven games, scoring twice and registering his second career three-point game. Ivan Miroshnichenko also lit the lamp in the second period, notching his third goal in four games since returning from an upper-body injury.
Miroshnichenko’s goal came 4:34 into the third period on a Bears’ four-on-three power play. After taking a pass from defenseman David Gucciardi, he sniped a shot past Penguins goaltender Joel Blomqvist bar down.
Miroshnichenko’s tally put the Bears up 5-2. Protas would complete the scoring with an empty-netter.
Since returning to the lineup on November 20, Miroshnichenko has five points (3g, 2a) in four games, recording points in every game except November 26, when he had 7 shots on goal.
