Alex Ovechkin’s incredible memorabilia collection added the NHL’s first-ever 900-goal puck on Wednesday night, despite an attempted heist by Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington.
But according to Tarik El-Bashir and one of his “sources,” Ovechkin also added another significant piece of memorabilia behind the scenes.
“You just got an autographed Tom Brady jersey to go with your incredible collection of hockey sticks and hockey jerseys,” El-Bashir asked Ovechkin pregame in his capacity as a TNT reporter. “Where does a Tom Brady jersey rank?”
“Obviously, it’s top signing,” Ovechkin replied. “Yeah, I’m pretty happy. Thanks, Tom!”
“From one GOAT to another,” El-Bashir added.
“Oh yeah!” replied Ovechkin.
Brady is the NFL’s greatest quarterback of all time. During his 23-season career, he won seven Super Bowls and earned five Super Bowl MVP awards while throwing for the most career touchdowns (649) during the regular season.
Brady, like Ovechkin, is signed to an exclusive Fanatics memorabilia deal and is also a fellow collector.
The former Patriots and Buccaneers QB founded a sports card shop in 2020, CardVault by Tom Brady, that has locations in New York, Chicago, Boston, and Foxborough. He’s also made appearances at sports card shows.
Meanwhile, Ovechkin is preparing to build a museum in his native Moscow to show off his memorabilia and milestone gear. He already has the 895-goal puck and the hockey stick that he used to break the NHL goals record in Russia.
