Pierrick Dubé is already on the board in the KHL after just one game with Traktor Chelyabinsk.
The 24-year-old former Washington Capitals winger scored Traktor’s lone goal in their season-opening matchup with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Friday. With Traktor on a third-period power play down 1-0, Dubé pumped home a power-play one-time blast from Alex Ovechkin’s office.
Fellow former NHL talent Mikhail Grigorenko and Joshua Leivo provided the assists.
Dubé skated on the team’s second line with captain Alexander Kadeikin and Yegor Korshkov. He received 16:59 of total ice time in the eventual 2-1 shootout loss and also took a two-minute minor penalty for roughing.
The game was the first of the 2025-26 KHL campaign, pitting the two Gagargin Cup finalists against one another. Traktor will be back on the ice for their second game of the season against Barys Astana on Sunday.
Dubé signed a one-year contract with Traktor in mid-July after spending two seasons in the Capitals’ organization. He became an unrestricted free agent this summer when the Caps declined to extend him a qualifying offer on June 30.
The French-born forward spent most of his time with the organization on the AHL’s Hershey Bears, where he was one of the team’s top offensive threats. Dubé recorded 88 points (47g, 41a) in 124 games for the Bears, also scoring a hat trick in Game 6 of the 2024 Calder Cup Finals against the Coachella Valley Firebirds to power Hershey to a second straight championship.
With Traktor, Dubé has reunited with former Bears teammate Logan Day, who joined the club midseason last December. Day skated 20:53 time on ice in the loss and took a minor penalty for slashing.
