Bears return from break with 2-1 win against Iowa Wild

The Hershey Bears defeated the Iowa Wild 2-1 in the first ever matchup between the two organizations. Now a quarter of the way through their season, the Bears currently 14-4-0 overall, sitting second in the league.

The Bears now have won 14 out of their first 18 contests, tying a team record set in 1958 for most wins throughout the first 18 games of the season.

Defenseman Chase Priskie had a two-point night tonight, notching assists on both goals. Alex Limoges and Pierrick Dube were named first and second stars of the night for their respective goals. Hunter Shepard, who played in his 100th career start, had 25 saves on the night.

Bears finish week undefeated with 4-0 shutout over Bridgeport

The Hershey Bears finished out their week strong with a 4-0 shutout over the Bridgeport Islanders.

Bears’ goalie Clay Stevenson was named the First Star of the Night. Stevenson saved all 25 shots he faced in his third shutout of the season so far.

With the victory, the Bears swept both nights of their back-to-back with the Islanders, outscoring them 9-4.

Clay Stevenson records second AHL shutout as Bears beat Phantoms 2-0

The Hershey Bears defeated the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 2-0 on night one of back-to-back games between the two teams. This was the team’s second win against the Phantoms so far this season. The Bears are now 9-3-0 and remain first in the league.

Clay Stevenson pitched a shutout tonight after Bears starting goaltender Hunter Shepard received a call-up to the Capitals this morning. Stevenson faced 24 shots from the Phantoms while in net tonight.

Other player highlights include Logan Day registering his 100th career AHL point on an assist. Mike Sgarbossa also had an assist tonight, and now has assists in six straight games.

Nic Aube-Kubel scores first with Bears as Hershey notches third straight win

A back-and-forth game between the Hershey Bears and Leigh High Valley Phantoms ended with the Capitals’ AHL affiliate securing the victory in extra time. The Bears have now won three straight games and post a record of 7-2-0.

After clearing waivers and reporting to the Bears before the NHL season, Nic Aube-Kubel scored his first goal with the team. Chase Priskie also had a banner night, scoring the overtime game-winning goal for the Bears for his first goal with the franchise. It was also his 100th career point.

Ivan Miroshnichenko records first multi-point game, Clay Stevenson records first AHL shutout in Bears’ 4-0 win over Phantoms

The Hershey Bears have won five of their first seven games after defeating the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 4-0, Saturday.

Six Bears had milestones on the evening. Young players Ivan Miroshnichenko recorded his first career multi-point night, Ryan Hofer had his first AHL point, and Clay Stevenson earned his first AHL shutout. Veterans Mike Sgarbossa tallied his 400th career AHL point, Aaron Ness recorded his 300th career point, and Logan Day scored his first career goal as a member of the Hershey Bears.

Ivan Miroshnichenko scores second career AHL goal in Hershey’s 3-2 (OT) win over Bridgeport

The Hershey Bears swept their weekend three-in-three after beating the Bridgeport Islanders 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.

Ivan Miroshnichenko scored his second goal with the Bears. The exceptional rookie now has three points in his first five AHL games. Mike Sgarbossa also celebrated his 600th pro game by scoring the overtime game-winning goal for his 200th career point.

Former Harvard goaltender Mitchell Gibson got the start for Hershey, playing in his first professional game today. The rookie made 21 saves to help secure the Bears win.

Hershey Bears win third straight after beating Providence Bruins 5-4 in shootout

The Hershey Bears won the second night of their back-to-back against the Providence Bruins, giving them three-straight wins after being blanked on Opening Night. The action-filled game featured back-and-forth scoring, that eventually came down to a shootout. Pierrick Dube and Joe Snively scored in the shootout as Bears goalie Hunter Shephard was able to hold the Bruins to a single goal.

Two-goal nights from Ethen Frank and Jimmy Huntington helped lead the team to victory. Alex Limoges also had three assists on the night while Shephard stopped 32 of 36 shots.

Hershey Bears beat Providence Bruins 3-2 as Mike Sgarbossa and Mike Vecchione have two-point nights

The Hershey Bears collected their first road win of the season, beating the Providence Bruins 3-2 on Friday. The victory marked the Bears’ first win over the Bruins on the road for the first time since January 2020. It also made Todd Nelson the 12th-winningest coach in AHL history.

Veterans Mike Vecchione and Mike Sgarbossa led the team, each with a goal and an assist on the night. Ivan Miroshnichenko also scored his first AHL goal, a game after scoring his first AHL point.

Ethen Frank scores three points in Bears’ dominant 5-2 win over Monsters

The Hershey Bears dominated the Cleveland Monsters 5-2 on Sunday after sputtering a night before. Hershey scored its first goals of the season after getting shut out by the Belleville Senators 4-0 on their banner-raising night, commemorating their 2023 Calder Cup Championship.

Ethen Frank was named the First Star of the Night after notching three points — a goal and two assists — in the game. Frank, who had four shots on the night, was the team’s leading goal-scorer last year.

Notably, Caps prospect Ivan Miroshnichenko scored his first AHL point, an assist, on a goal by Hardy Häman Aktell. The tally was also Häman Aktell’s first AHL career goal. Pierrick Dubé also scored his first goal as a Bear.

Hershey Bears announce Opening Night roster for 2023-24 season

The Hershey Bears are ready for puck drop ahead of their season-opening matchup against the Belleville Senators, Saturday night.

The team announced its 31-player, Opening Night roster that includes 19 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders.

The Bears feature 16 returning players from the 2023 Calder Cup Championship team, including 2023 AHL Playoff MVP Hunter Shepard and Capitals prospects Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio. Ivan Miroshnichenko and Alexander Suzdalev have both made the Bears and will play their rookie seasons in the AHL.
