Alex Ovechkin became the NHL’s new goals kings on April 6 after scoring his 895th career goal against the New York Islanders and passing Wayne Gretzky on the all-time list.
Along the way, there have been incredible collectibles released honoring the milestone, including bobbleheads. The latest officially licensed bobbles, released by FOCO over the last week, celebrate moments from Ovechkin’s recent return to Capital One Arena where the team honored him for his excellence.
The most notable bobblehead of the bunch, at least to me as a fan, is a mini bobblehead of Ovechkin sitting on a puck throne, which appears to be inspired by the design of the Capitals’ goals throne at Capital One Arena. The installation, which sits in main concourse of the arena, can be sit in by fans for photos.
Per the details of the FOCO product page, the bobblehead:
- Portrays Ovechkin seated and wearing a blue suit, ready to revel in this historic moment
- Gr8 Chase logo displays on backdrop, showcasing Ovi’s history-making moment in the spotlight
- “886,” “887,” “888,” “889,” “890,” “891,” “892,” “893,” “894,” and “895” text displays on backdrop, counting down each goal to the milestone
- Puck throne accent on top of base, helping you visualize all the pucks Ovi has put past goalies in pursuit of the record
- “NHL ALL-TIME LEADING GOAL SCORER” text display on front of base, letting everyone know the Great 8 has the record on lock
The collectible makers also released bobbleheads celebrating Ovechkin receiving a golden stick from the Capitals, holding up his milestone 895 goal puck in the locker room, and doing his belly flop celebration after scoring.
Another notable piece includes a dual Ovechkin and Wayne Gretzky bobblehead featuring the two players in a shooting pose beside each other. This bobblehead is out of a series of 894 and includes the date Ovechkin broke Gretzky’s record.
Other Ovechkin goals-record bobbleheads still available on FOCO’s site that have not sold out yet include:
