The Washington Capitals will play the Utah Hockey Club in their annual matinee game on Super Bowl Sunday. Later that night, the Kansas City Chiefs will look to become the first team in NFL history to three-peat when they line up against the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome.
Saturday, Capitals’ social media wondered who the team thought would win The Big Game. And they got some colorful answers.
Defenseman Alex Alexeyev responded the “Commanders,” who [double checks the NFL playoff tree] lost to the Eagles in the NFC Championship game and are not a possible answer.
Tom Wilson, perhaps because he’s a Commanders fan or because of the Capitals’ rivalry with the Flyers, wouldn’t participate, saying “I’m not cheering for Philly, like…”
Alex Ovechkin had no such problem as Tom. “Let’s go, Philly,” he said.
Spencer Carbery gave what many might feel is the ‘correct’ answer by telling the camera, “Oh, I’m not a huge fan of either team.”
In the end, eleven Capitals players picked the Eagles, seven players picked the Chiefs, Alex Alexeyev picked the Commanders, and their fearless head coach picked a meteor.
So according to the Capitals: Taylor Swift, prepare to be disappointed.
