Leonard, the Washington Capitals’ top prospect, has had a strong start to the 2024-25 NCAA season with the Boston College Eagles, recording 17 points (11g, 6a) in 14 games. He was recently named to Team USA’s preliminary World Juniors training camp, seeking back-to-back gold medals at the tournament.
After the Eagles went 7-2-0 in nine November games, including six wins over ranked opponents, Leonard was also named the Hockey East Player of the Month. Five of the team’s wins came against in-conference competition.
Leonard has been quiet in his last two games for BC, going without a point against Dartmouth and UConn. He was separated from regular linemates James Hagens and Gabe Perreault in the Eagles’ 2-1 overtime win over the UConn Huskies on Wednesday night.
Boston College has two games left on their schedule, December 6 and 9 against UMass Lowell, before breaking for the holidays. Leonard will then head to Plymouth, Michigan, to join Team USA.
