Evgeny Kuznetsov was named a KHL All-Star for the fifth time in his career.
Kuznetsov was one of four players from the Bobrov Division voted as starters by fans. The KHL announced the results on Wednesday morning.
Before signing an entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals in March 2014, Kuznetsov was named a KHL All-Star four straight years from 2011 through 2014. His most memorable appearance came in 2013 as a member of his hometown, Traktor Chelyabinsk. Kuznetsov’s 2025 All-Star nod is his first with SKA St. Petersburg since returning to the league. Kuznetsov was also an NHL All-Star with the Capitals twice (2016, 2022).
This year’s KHL All-Star festivities are planned for February 8-9, 2025, at the brand-new Sibir Arena in Novosibirsk.
Kuznetsov will be joined as an All-Star by two other familiar faces to Washington Capitals and Hershey Bears fans, as goaltender Zach Fucale and forward Sam Anas have also been selected. Fucale was voted in for the Kharlamov Division, and Anas won a “Fonbet Overtime fan vote.”
Kuznetsov’s selection comes after he’s ramped up his scoring post a slow start to the season. The 32-year-old center has 22 points (9g, 13a) in 25 games for SKA, which ranks just behind Tony DeAngelo (23) and Arseny Gritsyuk (23) for the team lead.
The talented Russian pivot recently went viral after scoring a lacrosse goal from the slot.
With the fan voting portion of the roster completed, the media and league officials will finalize the rosters for the game. The weekend will feature the traditional skills competition and a mini-tournament among the divisional teams.
