Alex Suzdalev had his first breakout game in the ECHL since being re-assigned to South Carolina in late October.
The 20-year-old scored his first ECHL goal and recorded three points in South Carolina’s 5-2 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
His first goal came at the 16:30 mark of the second period to put the Stingrays up 5-1. South Carolina caught the Swamp Rabbits on a bad line change, and Suzdalev bungled home a wide-open chance from in front of the net.
Both of Suzdalev’s other points were primary assists. His first came on a great cross-ice pass to Grant Cruikshank at the 1:13 mark of the second.
Suzdalev’s second assist was another smooth play, feeding Tyler Weiss from behind the Greenville net just 4:59 later.
Suzdalev now has five points (1g, 4a) in four games for South Carolina, ranking second on the team in points per game (1.25). He was named the First Star of the Game for his efforts.
The Stingrays are 5-1-1 to start the 2024-25 campaign. Their .786 points percentage ranks second in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference and third in the league.
South Carolina will be back on the ice against the Jacksonville Icemen on Saturday night.
