For the second consecutive game, the Washington Capitals ended a Western Conference team’s undefeated streak to start the season, beating the Dallas Stars 3-2 and tumbling their record to 4-1-0 .
Inside a very jolly Capitals’ locker room after the game, head coach Spencer Carbery shared his appreciation to the team in a post-game speech where he called out some superlative efforts.
Transcript
Spencer Carbery: That penalty kill, but then rolling over into the 5-on-6. The blocks. Marty f***ing ate one.
(Loud cheers.)
Alex Ovechkin: Atta boy, ‘Tin!
John Carlson: Oh my god, ‘Tin!
Spencer Carbery: The second period obviously changes the game. We chang our mindset a little bit. We understand what’s, what it’s going to take tonight. We go forecheck. We go get – both those goals I can name – like, O’s at the net front, Pro’s at the net front. Dowder’s at the net front. Yeah, Raddy gets credit and it’s his first f***ing goal.
(Loud applause.)
(Players yell ’Speech.’)
Taylor Raddysh: Yeah, that was a gutsy f***ing win, boys. We kinda came out there a little slow in the first, but way to earn it there at the end.
(Cheering.)
I would also like to call your attention to one, Jakub Vrana, who didn’t speak in the video, but did have this priceless face communication with a teammate during Raddysh’s address. I have no idea what he’s trying to say here, but I completely get it at the same time.

Raddysh played the hero on Thursday as his goal at 17:19 of the second period stood as the eventual game-winner. Not only was it Raddysh’s first goal with his new team, but it was also his third career game-winning goal and his first since Jan. 12, 2023 vs. Colorado as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
“Yeah, that was exciting,” Raddysh said to media, including RMNB, after the game. “Coming to a new team, you want to try to contribute any way you can, and I feel like we’ve been doing that. Working hard, our line [has been] creating some stuff and it hasn’t went in, but tonight it was nice to finally get a reward.”
And a nice Capitals’ 50th anniversary goal puck to put on the mantle.
