Funk scored 67 goals, the most of any player in all three CHL junior leagues. The Capitals signed Funk, 20, on March 1 as an unrestricted free agent.

Cristall returns after participating in Development Camp over the summer and participating as a Black Ace during the Hershey Bears’ 2024 Calder Cup championship run. The talented 19-year-old forward registered 111 points (40g, 71a) in 62 games last season for the Kelowna Rockets. This season he’s eligible to play for the Capitals in the NHL or return to his WHL team in junior.

Suzdalev, formerly a teammate of Connor Bedard’s with the Regina Pats, spent his 2023-24 season split between the Mora IK of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan and the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades where he registered 25 points (9g, 16a) in 30 games.

Funk and Suzdalev are expected to be mainstays on the Hershey Bears’ roster and play their rookie seasons in the AHL. Hyland, Weiss, Lee, and Thornton are all on AHL deals with Hershey.

The entirety of Capitals’ Rookie Camp is being held at McMullen Hockey Arena from September 13 through 16. The skates are open to the public.
