HERSHEY, PA — Spencer Carbery was in the house for the decisive Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Hershey Bears and Cleveland Monsters.
The Washington Capitals head coach sat in Bryan Helmer’s suite and could be seen taking in the action with his wife Casey and Bears’ Hall of Famer, Don Scott.
Carbery is no stranger at Giant Center. He spent three seasons as the team’s head coach, leading Hershey to the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy in 2021 as the AHL’s best team in the regular season and winning the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award for Coach of the Year.
Carbery then went on to be an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being hired as the Capitals bench boss in 2023. The Capitals posted a 40-31-11 record during his rookie year, clinching a playoff spot during their final game of the year.
Carbery also attended Bears’ games last season during the Calder Cup Finals.
The Capitals’ bench boss wasn’t the only NHL head coach to be in the arena. Dan Bylsma and the rest of the Coachella Valley Firebirds staff were once again at Giant Center scouting both the Bears and Monsters for the Calder Cup Finals.
