The Washington Capitals returned home to DC and right back on the ice Friday after a disappointing 5-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Capitals will host the Boston Bruins at Capital One Arena on Saturday in what will be another huge game.
Capitals forward Sonny Milano, who has missed the past two games with an upper-body injury, was on the ice with the rest of his teammates at Friday’s skate. Head coach Spencer Carbery gave a brief update on the winger at the end of his media availability after practice.
“Full participant today,” Carbery said. “We’ll see how he is for tomorrow but full participant in practice today.”
Milano suffered his injury in Sunday afternoon’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. He was one of three players to get in some extra work on Wednesday despite Carbery giving the team the day off before their flight to Toronto.
Milano has seven goals in March and 20 total points (13g, 7a) on the season in 39 games, including his first career hat trick. The Capitals have been somewhat cautious with Milano after the 27-year-old missed over two months with an upper-body injury earlier this season.
The Capitals will not have Tom Wilson against Boston as he serves the fifth game of his NHL-levied six-game suspension. The Bruins last played on Wednesday, falling 3-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning, an Atlantic Division rival.
