Washington Capitals winger TJ Oshie has not played in a game since going down with a non-contact injury against the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 22. The Capitals placed Oshie on injured reserve soon after and the veteran forward was labeled as “week-to-week” with an upper-body injury.
Oshie has been around the team since then although not in an on-ice capacity. He changed that on Tuesday morning as he jumped on the ice before the Capitals’ scheduled practice and got some light skating and skills work in.

Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan commented on Oshie’s status in his recent pre-trade-deadline press conference. MacLellan was confident Oshie would be back in the team’s lineup again this season.
“I had concerns the same as anybody when you watch the whole situation unfold,” MacLellan said. “I see him [Friday] in the weight room working out and he looked pretty good, actually. I would anticipate that he’s coming back here. I don’t have a timeline for you but I was surprised with how (good) he looked in the weight room.”
Oshie, who has scored 10 goals and tallied 18 points, has missed 22 games this season and is on pace for his fourth straight season playing under 60 times.
The 37-year-old has one year remaining on his contract after this one with a $5.75 million cap hit. The Capitals have 23 games remaining in the season and Oshie is just four games short of 1,000 in his career.
